You say you have the counsel and the might for war—but you speak only empty words. On whom are you depending, that you rebel against me?

As for the other events of Hezekiah’s reign, all his achievements and how he made the pool and the tunnel by which he brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?

Plans are established by seeking advice; so if you wage war, obtain guidance.

Surely you need guidance to wage war, and victory is won through many advisers.

Who can fathom the Spirit of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counselor?

Draw water for the siege, strengthen your defenses! Work the clay, tread the mortar, repair the brickwork!

“Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?”
