My lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, to learn from you who will sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

“The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; his word was on my tongue.

He has sacrificed great numbers of cattle, fattened calves, and sheep, and has invited all the king’s sons, Abiathar the priest and Joab the commander of the army, but he has not invited Solomon your servant.

Otherwise, as soon as my lord the king is laid to rest with his ancestors, I and my son Solomon will be treated as criminals.”

Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house as the sanctuary. Be strong and do the work.”

As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he shows us his mercy.

My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare.

See, the stone I have set in front of Joshua! There are seven eyes on that one stone, and I will engrave an inscription on it,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and I will remove the sin of this land in a single day.
