I have become a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge!

But a shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and from his roots a bud shall blossom.

Then the Lord said: Just as my servant Isaiah has gone naked and barefoot for three years as a sign and portent against Egypt and Ethiopia,

On that day, The branch of the Lord will be beauty and glory, and the fruit of the land will be honor and splendor for the survivors of Israel.

Here is my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one with whom I am pleased. Upon him I have put my spirit; he shall bring forth justice to the nations.

He said to me, You are my servant, in you, Israel, I show my glory.

For now the Lord has spoken who formed me as his servant from the womb, That Jacob may be brought back to him and Israel gathered to him; I am honored in the sight of the Lord, and my God is now my strength!

See, my servant shall prosper, he shall be raised high and greatly exalted.

Because of his anguish he shall see the light; because of his knowledge he shall be content; My servant, the just one, shall justify the many, their iniquity he shall bear.

He grew up like a sapling before him, like a shoot from the parched earth; He had no majestic bearing to catch our eye, no beauty to draw us to him.

Here am I and the children whom the Lord has given me: we are signs and portents in Israel from the Lord of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.

See, days are coming—oracle of the Lord— when I will raise up a righteous branch for David; As king he shall reign and govern wisely, he shall do what is just and right in the land.

In those days, at that time, I will make a just shoot spring up for David; he shall do what is right and just in the land.

Say, I am a sign for you: just as I have done, so it shall be done to them; into exile, as captives they shall go.

While they watch, shoulder your load and go out in darkness. Cover your face so you cannot see the land, for I am making you a sign for the house of Israel!

Ezekiel shall be a sign for you: everything he did, you shall do. When it happens, you shall know that I am the Lord God. End of Ezekiel’s Muteness.

I will prepare for them peaceful fields for planting so they are never again swept away by famine in the land or bear taunts from the nations.

David my servant shall be king over them; they shall all have one shepherd. They shall walk in my ordinances, observe my statutes, and keep them.

And say to him: Thus says the Lord of hosts: There is a man whose name is Branch —and from his place he will branch out and he will build the temple of the Lord.

because of the tender mercy of our God by which the daybreak from on high will visit us
