Therefore, sin must not reign over your mortal bodies so that you obey their desires.

But thanks be to God that, although you were once slaves of sin, you have become obedient from the heart to the pattern of teaching to which you were entrusted.

But now that you have been freed from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit that you have leads to sanctification, and its end is eternal life.

We know that our old self was crucified with him, so that our sinful body might be done away with, that we might no longer be in slavery to sin.

For I fear that when I come I may find you not such as I wish, and that you may find me not as you wish; that there may be rivalry, jealousy, fury, selfishness, slander, gossip, conceit, and disorder.

For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he is deluding himself.

And you who once were alienated and hostile in mind because of evil deeds

By these you too once conducted yourselves, when you lived in that way.

But wicked people and charlatans will go from bad to worse, deceivers and deceived.

For some of these slip into homes and make captives of women weighed down by sins, led by various desires,

They claim to know God, but by their deeds they deny him. They are vile and disobedient and unqualified for any good deed.

and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age,

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, his religion is vain.

Like obedient children, do not act in compliance with the desires of your former ignorance

The huge dragon, the ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, who deceived the whole world, was thrown down to earth, and its angels were thrown down with it.

It deceived the inhabitants of the earth with the signs it was allowed to perform in the sight of the first beast, telling them to make an image for the beast who had been wounded by the sword and revived.
