Lord, may you not withhold your compassion from me; May your mercy and your faithfulness continually protect me.

The young man said to him, “All of these I have observed. What do I still lack?”

He said to his father in reply, ‘Look, all these years I served you and not once did I disobey your orders; yet you never gave me even a young goat to feast on with my friends.

And he replied, “All of these I have observed from my youth.”

Moses writes about the righteousness that comes from [the] law, “The one who does these things will live by them.”

then I died, and the commandment that was for life turned out to be death for me.

For sin, seizing an opportunity in the commandment, deceived me and through it put me to death.

In the same way, my brothers, you also were put to death to the law through the body of Christ, so that you might belong to another, to the one who was raised from the dead in order that we might bear fruit for God.

But now we are released from the law, dead to what held us captive, so that we may serve in the newness of the spirit and not under the obsolete letter. Acquaintance with Sin Through the Law.

But sin, finding an opportunity in the commandment, produced in me every kind of covetousness. Apart from the law sin is dead.

For the concern of the flesh is hostility toward God; it does not submit to the law of God, nor can it;

For through the law I died to the law, that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ;

For all who depend on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not persevere in doing all the things written in the book of the law.”
