You belong to your father the devil and you willingly carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks in character, because he is a liar and the father of lies.

The officials shall continue to speak to the army: “Is there anyone who is afraid and weakhearted? Let him return home, or else he might make the hearts of his fellows melt as his does.”

through the hypocrisy of liars with branded consciences.

They claim to know God, but by their deeds they deny him. They are vile and disobedient and unqualified for any good deed.

Let marriage be honored among all and the marriage bed be kept undefiled, for God will judge the immoral and adulterers.

Now in my vision this is how I saw the horses and their riders. They wore red, blue, and yellow breastplates, and the horses’ heads were like heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and sulfur.

Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic potions, their unchastity, or their robberies.

So announce in the hearing of the soldiers, “If anyone is afraid or fearful, let him leave! Let him depart from Mount Gilead!” Twenty-two thousand of the soldiers left, but ten thousand remained.
