For the Lord will not forsake his people, nor abandon his inheritance.

Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you fear of the Lord.

For the Lord loves justice and does not abandon the faithful. When the unjust are destroyed, and the offspring of the wicked cut off,

Remember your people, whom you acquired of old, the tribe you redeemed as your own heritage, Mount Zion where you dwell.

They crush your people, Lord, torment your very own.

The afflicted and the needy seek water in vain, their tongues are parched with thirst. I, the Lord, will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

Jacob’s portion is nothing like them: for he is the maker of everything! Israel is his very own tribe, Lord of hosts is his name.

But the Lord’s portion was his people; his allotted share was Jacob.

Let your life be free from love of money but be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never forsake you or abandon you.”

For the sake of his own great name the Lord will not abandon his people, since the Lord has decided to make you his people.
