As the sparrow finds a home and the swallow a nest to settle her young, My home is by your altars, Lord of hosts, my king and my God!
My mouth will speak the praises of the Lord; all flesh will bless his holy name forever and ever.
Indeed, goodness and mercy will pursue me all the days of my life; I will dwell in the house of the Lord for endless days.
One thing I ask of the Lord; this I seek: To dwell in the Lord’s house all the days of my life, To gaze on the Lord’s beauty, to visit his temple.
It shatters my bones, when my adversaries reproach me, when they say to me every day: “Where is your God?”
Those times I recall as I pour out my soul, When I would cross over to the shrine of the Mighty One, to the house of God, Amid loud cries of thanksgiving, with the multitude keeping festival.
Attend to the sound of my cry, my king and my God! For to you I will pray, Lord;
with its burden of wicked deeds. We are overcome by our sins; only you can pardon them.
My mouth shall proclaim your just deeds, day after day your acts of deliverance, though I cannot number them all.
My mouth shall be filled with your praise, shall sing your glory every day.
“For this reason they stand before God’s throne and worship him day and night in his temple. The one who sits on the throne will shelter them.
