Lord, oppressed by your punishment, we cried out in anguish under your discipline.

Trust in the Lord forever! For the Lord is an eternal Rock.

Who among you fears the Lord, heeds his servant’s voice? Whoever walk in darkness, without any light, Yet trust in the name of the Lord and rely upon their God!

Rise up! Wail in the night, at the start of every watch; Pour out your heart like water before the Lord; Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children, Who collapse from hunger at the corner of every street.

Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.

so that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge might be strongly encouraged to hold fast to the hope that lies before us.

And now, children, remain in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not be put to shame by him at his coming.
