He reached down from on high and seized me, drew me out of the deep waters.

Those of Israelite descent separated themselves from all who were of foreign extraction, then stood forward and confessed their sins and the guilty deeds of their ancestors.

Then the waters would have engulfed us, the torrent overwhelmed us;

deliver me; rescue me from the hands of foreign foes. Their mouths speak untruth; their right hands are raised in lying oaths.

Then the bed of the sea appeared; the world’s foundations lay bare, At your rebuke, O Lord, at the storming breath of your nostrils.

He trusted in God; let him deliver him now if he wants him. For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

Then he said to me, “The waters that you saw where the harlot lives represent large numbers of peoples, nations, and tongues.
