Guarantee your servant’s welfare; do not let the arrogant oppress me.
I myself will serve as a guarantee for him. You can hold me responsible for him. If I fail to bring him back and set him before you, I will bear the blame before you forever.
Put up a pledge for me with you: who is there to give surety for me?
With a curse you rebuke the proud who stray from your commandments.
Show mercy on those who know you, your just defense to the upright of heart.
Like a swallow I chirp; I moan like a dove. My eyes grow weary looking heavenward: Lord, I am overwhelmed; go security for me!
to that same degree has Jesus [also] become the guarantee of an [even] better covenant.
