In vain a net is spread right under the eyes of any bird—

As vinegar to the teeth, and smoke to the eyes, are sluggards to those who send them.

The slack hand impoverishes, but the busy hand brings riches.

The appetite of the sluggard craves but has nothing, but the appetite of the diligent is amply satisfied.

The way of the sluggard is like a thorn hedge, but the path of the diligent is a highway.

Those slack in their work are kin to the destroyer.

Laziness brings on deep sleep, and the sluggard goes hungry.

The sluggard buries a hand in the dish; not even lifting it to the mouth.

In seedtime sluggards do not plow; when they look for the harvest, it is not there.

Four things are among the smallest on the earth, and yet are exceedingly wise:

Ants—a species not strong, yet they store up their food in the summer;

How long, O sluggard, will you lie there? when will you rise from your sleep?

An ox knows its owner, and an ass, its master’s manger; But Israel does not know, my people has not understood.

Even the stork in the sky knows its seasons; Turtledove, swift, and thrush observe the time of their return, But my people do not know the order of the Lord.

His master said to him in reply, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I did not plant and gather where I did not scatter?

Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you more important than they?

Do not grow slack in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.

so that you may not become sluggish, but imitators of those who, through faith and patience, are inheriting the promises. God’s Promise Immutable.
