Rich and poor have a common bond: the Lord is the maker of them all.
Did not he who made me in the belly make him? Did not the same One fashion us in the womb?
Who neither favors the person of princes, nor respects the rich more than the poor? For they are all the work of his hands;
Those who oppress the poor revile their Maker, but those who are kind to the needy honor him.
The poor and the oppressor meet: the Lord gives light to the eyes of both.
The eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I do not need you.”
The Lord makes poor and makes rich, humbles, and also exalts.
