A joyful heart is the health of the body, but a depressed spirit dries up the bones.

Like water my life drains away; all my bones are disjointed. My heart has become like wax, it melts away within me.

Worry weighs down the heart, but a kind word gives it joy.

A glad heart lights up the face, but an anguished heart breaks the spirit.

Pleasing words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste and invigorating to the bones.

One’s spirit supports one when ill, but a broken spirit who can bear?

Of laughter I said: “Mad!” and of mirth: “What good does this do?”

so that on the contrary you should forgive and encourage him instead, or else the person may be overwhelmed by excessive pain.

For godly sorrow produces a salutary repentance without regret, but worldly sorrow produces death.
