With my lips I recite all the judgments you have spoken.

The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom; his tongue speaks what is right.

My heart is stirred by a noble theme, as I sing my ode to the king. My tongue is the pen of a nimble scribe.

The tongue of the wise pours out knowledge, but the mouth of fools spews folly.

In the house of the just there are ample resources, but the harvest of the wicked is in peril.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

The heart of the wise makes for eloquent speech, and increases the learning on their lips.

That you may act discreetly, and your lips guard what you know.

The wise heart turns to the right; the foolish heart to the left.

No foul language should come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for needed edification, that it may impart grace to those who hear.

And what you heard from me through many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will have the ability to teach others as well.

The tongue is also a fire. It exists among our members as a world of malice, defiling the whole body and setting the entire course of our lives on fire, itself set on fire by Gehenna.
