If you act rightly, you will be accepted; but if not, sin lies in wait at the door: its urge is for you, yet you can rule over it.

Drop burning coals upon them; cast them into the watery pit never more to rise.

Many are the sorrows of the wicked one, but mercy surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.

Strangers have risen against me; the ruthless seek my life; they do not keep God before them. Selah

If the just are recompensed on the earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!

Whoever despises the word must pay for it, but whoever reveres the command will be rewarded.

If you return evil for good, evil will not depart from your house.

Though the just fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble from only one mishap.

But upon you shall come an evil you will not be able to charm away; Upon you shall fall a disaster you cannot ward off. Upon you shall suddenly come a ruin you cannot imagine.

Thus says the Lord God: Evil upon evil! See it coming!

But if you do not do this, you will have sinned against the Lord, and you can be sure that the consequences of your sin will overtake you.

When the natives saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “This man must certainly be a murderer; though he escaped the sea, Justice has not let him remain alive.”
