My eager expectation and hope is that I shall not be put to shame in any way, but that with all boldness, now as always, Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship.

and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the holy Spirit that has been given to us.

And do not present the parts of your bodies to sin as weapons for wickedness, but present yourselves to God as raised from the dead to life and the parts of your bodies to God as weapons for righteousness.

I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your nature. For just as you presented the parts of your bodies as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness for lawlessness, so now present them as slaves to righteousness for sanctification.

For creation awaits with eager expectation the revelation of the children of God;

as it is written: “Behold, I am laying a stone in Zion that will make people stumble and a rock that will make them fall, and whoever believes in him shall not be put to shame.”

Every day I face death; I swear it by the pride in you [brothers] that I have in Christ Jesus our Lord.

For you have been purchased at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.

and he is divided. An unmarried woman or a virgin is anxious about the things of the Lord, so that she may be holy in both body and spirit. A married woman, on the other hand, is anxious about the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

And even if I should boast a little too much of our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for tearing you down, I shall not be put to shame.

Therefore, since we have such hope, we act very boldly

always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our body.

He indeed died for all, so that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.

For if I have boasted to him about you, I was not put to shame. No, just as everything we said to you was true, so our boasting before Titus proved to be the truth.

I have great confidence in you, I have great pride in you; I am filled with encouragement, I am overflowing with joy all the more because of all our affliction. Paul’s Joy in Macedonia.

and so that the majority of the brothers, having taken encouragement in the Lord from my imprisonment, dare more than ever to proclaim the word fearlessly.

But, even if I am poured out as a libation upon the sacrificial service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with all of you.

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of his body, which is the church,

May the God of peace himself make you perfectly holy and may you entirely, spirit, soul, and body, be preserved blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But whoever is made to suffer as a Christian should not be ashamed but glorify God because of the name.

And now, children, remain in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not be put to shame by him at his coming.
