Leviticus 11:3

Speak to the Israelites and tell them: Of all land animals these are the ones you may eat:

by all hoofed animals that are not cloven-footed or do not chew the cud; they are unclean for you; anyone who touches them becomes unclean.

But you shall not eat any of the following from among those that only chew the cud or only have hoofs: the camel, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you;

the rock hyrax, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you;

the hare, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you;

and the pig, which does indeed have hoofs and is cloven-footed, but does not chew the cud and is therefore unclean for you.

These Jews were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with all willingness and examined the scriptures daily to determine whether these things were so.

Therefore, come forth from them and be separate,” says the Lord, “and touch nothing unclean; then I will receive you

Any among the animals that has divided hooves, with the foot cloven in two, and that chews the cud you may eat.

And the pig, which indeed has divided hooves, with cloven foot, but does not chew the cud, is unclean for you. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their dead bodies you shall not touch.

Be diligent in these matters, be absorbed in them, so that your progress may be evident to everyone.
