Even when I cry for help, he stops my prayer;
If I cry out “Violence!” I am not answered. I shout for help, but there is no justice.
I cry to you, but you do not answer me; I stand, but you take no notice.
My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why so far from my call for help, from my cries of anguish?
O God, restore us; light up your face and we shall be saved.
You wrapped yourself in wrath and pursued us, killing without pity;
You wrapped yourself in a cloud, which no prayer could pierce.
How long, O Lord, must I cry for help and you do not listen? Or cry out to you, “Violence!” and you do not intervene?
And about three o’clock Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
