“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and hand him over to the Gentiles

The chief priests accused him of many things.

that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified, and rise on the third day.”

So Pilate came out to them and said, “What charge do you bring [against] this man?”

At this, Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law.” The Jews answered him, “We do not have the right to execute anyone,”

Consequently, Pilate tried to release him; but the Jews cried out, “If you release him, you are not a Friend of Caesar. Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.”

The God of Abraham, [the God] of Isaac, and [the God] of Jacob, the God of our ancestors, has glorified his servant Jesus whom you handed over and denied in Pilate’s presence, when he had decided to release him.

for which I am suffering, even to the point of chains, like a criminal. But the word of God is not chained.

But let no one among you be made to suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as an intriguer.
