When Jacob learned that grain rations were for sale in Egypt, he said to his sons: “Why do you keep looking at one another?”

And while they were eating, he said, “Amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”

Deeply distressed at this, they began to say to him one after another, “Surely it is not I, Lord?”

And as they reclined at table and were eating, Jesus said, “Amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me, one who is eating with me.”

They began to be distressed and to say to him, one by one, “Surely it is not I?”

“And yet behold, the hand of the one who is to betray me is with me on the table;

And they began to debate among themselves who among them would do such a deed. The Role of the Disciples.

I am not speaking of all of you. I know those whom I have chosen. But so that the scripture might be fulfilled, ‘The one who ate my food has raised his heel against me.’

When he had said this, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified, “Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”
