Job 2:3

The Lord said to the satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him, blameless and upright, fearing God and avoiding evil. He still holds fast to his innocence although you incited me against him to ruin him for nothing.”

These are the descendants of Noah. Noah was a righteous man and blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God.

Joab answered, “Not at all, not at all! I do not wish to swallow or batter anything.

In the land of Uz there was a blameless and upright man named Job, who feared God and avoided evil.

But now put forth your hand and touch all that he has, and surely he will curse you to your face.”

One day, when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, the satan also came among them.

The Lord said to the satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him, blameless and upright, fearing God and avoiding evil.”

Slay me though he might, I will wait for him; I will defend my conduct before him.

With a storm he might overwhelm me, and multiply my wounds for nothing;

Though I were right, my own mouth might condemn me; were I innocent, it might put me in the wrong.

Of David. Judge me, Lord! For I have walked in my integrity. In the Lord I trust; I do not falter.

Observe the person of integrity and mark the upright; Because there is a future for a man of peace.

By this I will know you are pleased with me, that my enemy no longer shouts in triumph over me.

The just are rescued from a tight spot, but the wicked fall into it instead.

Justice guards one who walks honestly, but sin leads the wicked astray.

Those who walk uprightly fear the Lord, but those who are devious in their ways spurn him.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

The path of the upright leads away from misfortune; those who attend to their way guard their lives.

Jesus answered, “Neither he nor his parents sinned; it is so that the works of God might be made visible through him.

It is not that I have already taken hold of it or have already attained perfect maturity, but I continue my pursuit in hope that I may possess it, since I have indeed been taken possession of by Christ [Jesus].

Blessed is the man who perseveres in temptation, for when he has been proved he will receive the crown of life that he promised to those who love him.

so that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold that is perishable even though tested by fire, may prove to be for praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

The God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory through Christ [Jesus] will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little.
