For slaves we are, but in our slavery our God has not abandoned us; rather, he has turned the good will of the kings of Persia toward us. Thus he has given us new life to raise again the house of our God and restore its ruins, and has granted us a protective wall in Judah and Jerusalem.

The Lord of hosts is with us; our stronghold is the God of Jacob. Selah

Direct your steps toward the utter destruction, everything the enemy laid waste in the sanctuary.

Break out together in song, O ruins of Jerusalem! For the Lord has comforted his people, has redeemed Jerusalem.

Your people shall rebuild the ancient ruins; the foundations from ages past you shall raise up; “Repairer of the breach,” they shall call you, “Restorer of ruined dwellings.”

It is the day for building your walls; on that day your boundaries shall be enlarged.

Proclaim further: Thus says the Lord of hosts: My cities will again overflow with prosperity; the Lord will again comfort Zion, and will again choose Jerusalem.
