The Lord said: Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with necks outstretched, Ogling and mincing as they go, their anklets tinkling with every step,

Pride goes before disaster, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Haughty eyes and a proud heart— the lamp of the wicked will fail.

There are some—how haughty their eyes! how overbearing their glance!

“Say to daughter Zion, ‘Behold, your king comes to you, meek and riding on an ass, and on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’”

Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep instead for yourselves and for your children,
