Come now, let us set things right, says the Lord: Though your sins be like scarlet, they may become white as snow; Though they be red like crimson, they may become white as wool.

Would that there were an arbiter between us, who could lay his hand upon us both

Behold, I was born in guilt, in sin my mother conceived me.

Cleanse me with hyssop, that I may be pure; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Your princes are rebels and comrades of thieves; Each one of them loves a bribe and looks for gifts. The fatherless they do not defend, the widow’s plea does not reach them.

The Lord rises to accuse, stands to try his people.

Keep silence before me, O coastlands; let the nations renew their strength. Let them draw near and speak; let us come together for judgment.

Present your case, says the Lord; bring forward your arguments, says the King of Jacob.

I have brushed away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like a mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you.

He who declares my innocence is near. Who will oppose me? Let us appear together. Who will dispute my right? Let them confront me.

Let the wicked forsake their way, and sinners their thoughts; Let them turn to the Lord to find mercy; to our God, who is generous in forgiving.

thus says the Lord: What fault did your ancestors find in me that they withdrew from me, Went after emptiness, and became empty themselves?

But if the wicked turn from the wickedness they did and do what is right and just, they save their lives;

None of the sins they committed shall be remembered against them. If they do what is right and just, they shall surely live.

Hear, O mountains, the Lord’s case, pay attention, O foundations of the earth! For the Lord has a case against his people; he enters into trial with Israel.

Following his usual custom, Paul joined them, and for three sabbaths he entered into discussions with them from the scriptures,

Every sabbath, he entered into discussions in the synagogue, attempting to convince both Jews and Greeks.

But as he spoke about righteousness and self-restraint and the coming judgment, Felix became frightened and said, “You may go for now; when I find an opportunity I shall summon you again.”

The law entered in so that transgression might increase but, where sin increased, grace overflowed all the more,

I said to him, “My lord, you are the one who knows.” He said to me, “These are the ones who have survived the time of great distress; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Now take your stand, that I may judge you in the presence of the Lord according to all the gracious acts that the Lord has done for you and your ancestors.
