Only then shall you succeed, if you are careful to observe the statutes and ordinances which the Lord commanded Moses for Israel. Be strong and steadfast; do not fear or be dismayed.

How can the young keep his way without fault? Only by observing your words.

My son, do not let these slip from your sight: hold to deliberation and planning;

For now I am raising up the Chaldeans, that bitter and impulsive people, Who march the breadth of the land to take dwellings not their own.

You are filled with shame instead of glory; drink, you too, and stagger! The cup from the Lord’s right hand shall come around to you, and utter shame shall cover your glory.

Do you not yet understand, and do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many wicker baskets you took up?

Do you have eyes and not see, ears and not hear? And do you not remember,

But as for the seed that fell on rich soil, they are the ones who, when they have heard the word, embrace it with a generous and good heart, and bear fruit through perseverance. The Parable of the Lamp.

“Pay attention to what I am telling you. The Son of Man is to be handed over to men.”

So they picked up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid and went out of the temple area.

Be careful, therefore, lest you forget the covenant which the Lord, your God, has made with you, and fashion for yourselves against his command an idol in any form whatsoever.

However, be on your guard and be very careful not to forget the things your own eyes have seen, nor let them slip from your heart as long as you live, but make them known to your children and to your children’s children,

You have also forgotten the exhortation addressed to you as sons: “My son, do not disdain the discipline of the Lord or lose heart when reproved by him;

I shall also make every effort to enable you always to remember these things after my departure.

This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you; through them by way of reminder I am trying to stir up your sincere disposition,
