With that, Joseph hurried out, for he was so overcome with affection for his brother that he was on the verge of tears. So he went into a private room and wept there.

But turning away from them, he wept. When he was able to speak to them again, he took Simeon from among them and bound him before their eyes.

Joseph prepared his chariot and went up to meet his father Israel in Goshen. As soon as Israel made his appearance, Joseph threw his arms around him and wept a long time on his shoulder.

I served the Lord with all humility and with the tears and trials that came to me because of the plots of the Jews,

So be vigilant and remember that for three years, night and day, I unceasingly admonished each of you with tears.

If there is any encouragement in Christ, any solace in love, any participation in the Spirit, any compassion and mercy,

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,

I yearn to see you again, recalling your tears, so that I may be filled with joy,

If someone who has worldly means sees a brother in need and refuses him compassion, how can the love of God remain in him?
