As you can now see and hear, not only in Ephesus but throughout most of the province of Asia this Paul has persuaded and misled a great number of people by saying that gods made by hands are not gods at all.

And do not become idolaters, as some of them did, as it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to revel.”

Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of flesh and spirit, making holiness perfect in the fear of God.

Joshua addressed all the people: “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: In times past your ancestors, down to Terah, father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the River and served other gods.

If you forsake the Lord and serve strange gods, he will then do evil to you and destroy you, after having done you good.”

“Now, therefore, put away the foreign gods that are among you and turn your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
