When Pharaoh demands of you, “Produce a sign or wonder,” you will say to Aaron: “Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh, and it will turn into a serpent.”

So Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt, and the Lord drove an east wind over the land all that day and all night. When it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.

Take this staff in your hand; with it you are to perform the signs. Moses’ Return to Egypt.

The Lord said to him: What is in your hand? “A staff,” he answered.

So Moses took his wife and his sons, mounted them on the donkey, and started back to the land of Egypt. Moses took the staff of God with him.

God said: Throw it on the ground. So he threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and Moses backed away from it.

The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron:

So Moses stretched out his staff toward the sky, and the Lord sent forth peals of thunder and hail. Lightning flashed toward the earth, and the Lord rained down hail upon the land of Egypt.

Ask for a sign from the Lord, your God; let it be deep as Sheol, or high as the sky!

Say to him: Thus says the Lord God: Pay attention! I am against you, Pharaoh, king of Egypt, Great dragon crouching in the midst of the Nile, Who says, “The Nile belongs to me; I made it myself!”

He said to them in reply, “An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet.

but if I perform them, even if you do not believe me, believe the works, so that you may realize [and understand] that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.”

At this the Jews answered and said to him, “What sign can you show us for doing this?”

So they said to him, “What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you? What can you do?
