So I sent messengers from the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon, king of Heshbon, with this offer of peace:
Now Israel sent messengers to Sihon, king of the Amorites, with the message,
after he had defeated Sihon, king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, and Og, king of Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei.
“Let me pass through your country. I will travel only on the road. I will not turn aside either to the right or to the left.
Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,
Kedemoth with its pasture lands, and Mephaath with its pasture lands: four cities.
Then Israel sent messengers to the Amorite king Sihon, who was king of Heshbon. Israel said to him, “Let me pass through your land to my own place.”
