For what hope has the impious when he is cut off, when God requires his life?

Will God then listen to his cry when distress comes upon him,

Had I cherished evil in my heart, the Lord would not have heard.

When he slew them, they began to seek him; they again looked for God.

Because you disdained all my counsel, and my reproof you ignored—

Then they will call me, but I will not answer; they will seek me, but will not find me,

Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them what referred to him in all the scriptures.

We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if one is devout and does his will, he listens to him.

For you know that later, when he wanted to inherit his father’s blessing, he was rejected because he found no opportunity to change his mind, even though he sought the blessing with tears.
