My brothers, one can confidently say to you about the patriarch David that he died and was buried, and his tomb is in our midst to this day.

David rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David.

After him, the work of repair was carried out by Nehemiah, son of Azbuk, administrator of half the district of Beth-zur, to a place opposite the tombs of David, as far as the Artificial Pool and the barracks.

Now David, after he had served the will of God in his lifetime, fell asleep, was gathered to his ancestors, and did see corruption.

You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.’

Even the high priest and the whole council of elders can testify on my behalf. For from them I even received letters to the brothers and set out for Damascus to bring back to Jerusalem in chains for punishment those there as well.
