The wise by hearing them will advance in learning, the intelligent will gain sound guidance,

A golden earring or a necklace of fine gold— one who gives wise reproof to a listening ear.

Instruct the wise, and they become still wiser; teach the just, and they advance in learning.

So they stayed for a considerable period, speaking out boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the word about his grace by granting signs and wonders to occur through their hands.

Paul remained for quite some time, and after saying farewell to the brothers he sailed for Syria, together with Priscilla and Aquila. At Cenchreae he had his hair cut because he had taken a vow.

He had been instructed in the Way of the Lord and, with ardent spirit, spoke and taught accurately about Jesus, although he knew only the baptism of John.

He entered the synagogue, and for three months debated boldly with persuasive arguments about the kingdom of God.

So they arranged a day with him and came to his lodgings in great numbers. From early morning until evening, he expounded his position to them, bearing witness to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus from the law of Moses and the prophets.

He replied, “How can I, unless someone instructs me?” So he invited Philip to get in and sit with him.

The eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I do not need you.”

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you considers himself wise in this age, let him become a fool so as to become wise.

If anyone supposes he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know.

Therefore, let us leave behind the basic teaching about Christ and advance to maturity, without laying the foundation all over again: repentance from dead works and faith in God,

But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory now and to the day of eternity. [Amen.]
