It is my judgment, therefore, that we ought to stop troubling the Gentiles who turn to God,

Let the wicked forsake their way, and sinners their thoughts; Let them turn to the Lord to find mercy; to our God, who is generous in forgiving.

Return, Israel, to the Lord, your God; you have stumbled because of your iniquity.

Why, then, are you now putting God to the test by placing on the shoulders of the disciples a yoke that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear?

Since we have heard that some of our number [who went out] without any mandate from us have upset you with their teachings and disturbed your peace of mind,

‘It is the decision of the holy Spirit and of us not to place on you any burden beyond these necessities,

They have been informed that you are teaching all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to abandon Moses and that you are telling them not to circumcise their children or to observe their customary practices.

As for the Gentiles who have come to believe, we sent them our decision that they abstain from meat sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals, and from unlawful marriage.”

On the contrary, first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem and throughout the whole country of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, I preached the need to repent and turn to God, and to do works giving evidence of repentance.

but because of the false brothers secretly brought in, who slipped in to spy on our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, that they might enslave us—

For they themselves openly declare about us what sort of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God
