When it was already evening, since it was the day of preparation, the day before the sabbath,

Now there was a virtuous and righteous man named Joseph who, though he was a member of the council,

After he had taken the body down, he wrapped it in a linen cloth and laid him in a rock-hewn tomb in which no one had yet been buried.

He said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled.”

After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I thirst.”

When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit. The Blood and Water.

The inhabitants of Jerusalem and their leaders failed to recognize him, and by condemning him they fulfilled the oracles of the prophets that are read sabbath after sabbath.

This man, delivered up by the set plan and foreknowledge of God, you killed, using lawless men to crucify him.

But I have enjoyed God’s help to this very day, and so I stand here testifying to small and great alike, saying nothing different from what the prophets and Moses foretold,

to do what your hand and [your] will had long ago planned to take place.

The God of our ancestors raised Jesus, though you had him killed by hanging him on a tree.

that he was buried; that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures;
