Acts 12:17

He motioned to them with his hand to be quiet and explained [to them] how the Lord had led him out of the prison, and said, “Report this to James and the brothers.” Then he left and went to another place.

But Peter continued to knock, and when they opened it, they saw him and were astounded.

At daybreak there was no small commotion among the soldiers over what had become of Peter.

So Paul got up, motioned with his hand, and said, “Fellow Israelites and you others who are God-fearing, listen.

After they had fallen silent, James responded, “My brothers, listen to me.

When they had come out of the prison, they went to Lydia’s house where they saw and encouraged the brothers, and then they left.

Some of the crowd prompted Alexander, as the Jews pushed him forward, and Alexander signaled with his hand that he wished to explain something to the gathering.

The next day, Paul accompanied us on a visit to James, and all the presbyters were present.

When he had given his permission, Paul stood on the steps and motioned with his hand to the people; and when all was quiet he addressed them in Hebrew.

The brothers from there heard about us and came as far as the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns to meet us. On seeing them, Paul gave thanks to God and took courage.

After that he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.

But I did not see any other of the apostles, only James the brother of the Lord.

For, until some people came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he began to draw back and separated himself, because he was afraid of the circumcised.

and when they recognized the grace bestowed upon me, James and Cephas and John, who were reputed to be pillars, gave me and Barnabas their right hands in partnership, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.
