But when she reached the man of God on the mountain, she clasped his feet. Gehazi came near to push her away, but the man of God said: “Let her alone, she is in bitter anguish; the Lord hid it from me and did not let me know.”

But he did not say a word in answer to her. His disciples came and asked him, “Send her away, for she keeps calling out after us.”

The crowd warned them to be silent, but they called out all the more, “Lord, Son of David, have pity on us!”

And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage.

And people were bringing children to him that he might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them.

Jesus said, “Let her alone. Why do you make trouble for her? She has done a good thing for me.

she stood behind him at his feet weeping and began to bathe his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them, and anointed them with the ointment.

I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.

At that moment his disciples returned, and were amazed that he was talking with a woman, but still no one said, “What are you looking for?” or “Why are you talking with her?”

In her bitterness she prayed to the Lord, weeping freely,
