When he tore Israel away from the house of David, they made Jeroboam, son of Nebat, king; but Jeroboam lured the Israelites away from the Lord, causing them to commit a great sin.

Then Abimelech summoned Abraham and said to him: “What have you done to us! What wrong did I do to you that you would have brought such great guilt on me and my kingdom? You have treated me in an intolerable way.

So the Lord said to Solomon: Since this is what you want, and you have not kept my covenant and the statutes which I enjoined on you, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.

and said to Jeroboam: “Take ten pieces for yourself. Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: I am about to tear the kingdom out of Solomon’s hand and will give you ten of the tribes.

This is the account of the sin of the house of Jeroboam for which it was to be cut off and destroyed from the face of the earth.

He will give up Israel because of the sins Jeroboam has committed and caused Israel to commit.”

I tore the kingdom away from the house of David and gave it to you. Yet you have not been like my servant David, who kept my commandments and followed me with his whole heart, doing only what is right in my sight.

The Israelites imitated Jeroboam in all the sins he committed; they would not depart from them.

but he still held fast unceasingly to the sins which Jeroboam, son of Nebat, caused Israel to commit. War Against Moab: Drought.

Then he strengthened the fortifications and put commanders in them, along with supplies of food, oil, and wine.

In their place, he himself appointed priests for the high places as well as for the satyrs and calves he had made.
