For we know that if our earthly dwelling, a tent, should be destroyed, we have a building from God, a dwelling not made with hands, eternal in heaven.

By the sweat of your brow you shall eat bread, Until you return to the ground, from which you were taken; For you are dust, and to dust you shall return.

You raise me up and drive me before the wind; I am tossed about by the tempest.

How much more with those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed more easily than a moth!

My wanderings you have noted; are my tears not stored in your flask, recorded in your book?

My dwelling, like a shepherd’s tent, is struck down and borne away from me; You have folded up my life, like a weaver who severs me from the last thread. From morning to night you make an end of me;

“We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with hands and within three days I will build another not made with hands.’”

Yet the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands. As the prophet says:

For we are God’s co-workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.

But we hold this treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassing power may be of God and not from us.

For while we are in this tent we groan and are weighed down, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.

In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not administered by hand, by stripping off the carnal body, with the circumcision of Christ.

On this account I am suffering these things; but I am not ashamed, for I know him in whom I have believed and am confident that he is able to guard what has been entrusted to me until that day.

for he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and maker is God.

But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that have come to be, passing through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made by hands, that is, not belonging to this creation,

For Christ did not enter into a sanctuary made by hands, a copy of the true one, but heaven itself, that he might now appear before God on our behalf.

to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you

Since everything is to be dissolved in this way, what sort of persons ought [you] to be, conducting yourselves in holiness and devotion,

We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. Whoever does not love remains in death.

[Now] this is how we shall know that we belong to the truth and reassure our hearts before him

Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed. We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
