Gird your sword upon your hip, mighty warrior! In splendor and majesty ride on triumphant!

Exult greatly, O daughter Zion! Shout for joy, O daughter Jerusalem! Behold: your king is coming to you, a just savior is he, Humble, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves.

“Say to daughter Zion, ‘Behold, your king comes to you, meek and riding on an ass, and on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’”

This was the scripture passage he was reading: “Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he opened not his mouth.

Then Isaiah speaks boldly and says: “I was found [by] those who were not seeking me; I revealed myself to those who were not asking for me.”

I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship.

But I have written to you rather boldly in some respects to remind you, because of the grace given me by God

I came to you in weakness and fear and much trembling,

We are fools on Christ’s account, but you are wise in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are held in honor, but we in disrepute.

Which do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love and a gentle spirit?

For someone will say, “His letters are severe and forceful, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.”

I beg you that, when present, I may not have to be brave with that confidence with which I intend to act boldly against some who consider us as acting according to the flesh.

Look at what confronts you. Whoever is confident of belonging to Christ should consider that as he belongs to Christ, so do we.

To my shame I say that we were too weak! But what anyone dares to boast of (I am speaking in foolishness) I also dare.

If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.

About this person I will boast, but about myself I will not boast, except about my weaknesses.

Therefore, since we have such hope, we act very boldly

So we are ambassadors for Christ, as if God were appealing through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

Working together, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

I have great confidence in you, I have great pride in you; I am filled with encouragement, I am overflowing with joy all the more because of all our affliction. Paul’s Joy in Macedonia.

you know that it was because of a physical illness that I originally preached the gospel to you,

It is I, Paul, who am telling you that if you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you.

Because of this, I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ [Jesus] for you Gentiles—

I, then, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have received,

Your kindness should be known to all. The Lord is near.

provided that you persevere in the faith, firmly grounded, stable, and not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, am a minister. Christ in Us.

This greeting is in my own hand, Paul’s. This is the sign in every letter; this is how I write.

I, Paul, write this in my own hand: I will pay. May I not tell you that you owe me your very self.

I rather urge you out of love, being as I am, Paul, an old man, and now also a prisoner for Christ Jesus.

Beloved, I urge you as aliens and sojourners to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against the soul.

I, John, your brother, who share with you the distress, the kingdom, and the endurance we have in Jesus, found myself on the island called Patmos because I proclaimed God’s word and gave testimony to Jesus.
