Asa then took all the silver and gold remaining in the treasuries of the house of the Lord and the house of the king. Entrusting them to his ministers, King Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, son of Tabrimmon, son of Hezion, king of Aram, who ruled in Damascus. He said:

Joash, king of Judah, took all the sacred offerings presented by his forebears, Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, and Ahaziah, kings of Judah, as well as his own, and all the gold there was in the treasuries of the house of the Lord and the king’s house, and sent them to King Hazael of Aram, who then turned away from Jerusalem.

He brought into the house of God his father’s and his own votive offerings: silver, gold, and vessels.

I will set fire to the wall of Damascus; it shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad. Against Arabia.

I will send fire upon the house of Hazael, and it will devour the strongholds of Ben-hadad.
