The wisdom of the shrewd enlightens their way, but the folly of fools is deceit.

During those days Peter stood up in the midst of the brothers (there was a group of about one hundred and twenty persons in the one place). He said,

But Ananias replied, “Lord, I have heard from many sources about this man, what evil things he has done to your holy ones in Jerusalem.

Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears his hair long it is a disgrace to him,

Become sober as you ought and stop sinning. For some have no knowledge of God; I say this to your shame.

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you considers himself wise in this age, let him become a fool so as to become wise.

We are fools on Christ’s account, but you are wise in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are held in honor, but we in disrepute.

I am writing you this not to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.

How can any one of you with a case against another dare to bring it to the unjust for judgment instead of to the holy ones?

If, therefore, you have courts for everyday matters, do you seat as judges people of no standing in the church?

But if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and he will be given it.
