I am writing you this not to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.

If, on the other hand, you warn the just to avoid sin, and they do not sin, they will surely live because of the warning, and you in turn shall save your own life. Ezekiel Mute.

So be vigilant and remember that for three years, night and day, I unceasingly admonished each of you with tears.

Become sober as you ought and stop sinning. For some have no knowledge of God; I say this to your shame.

Even if you should have countless guides to Christ, yet you do not have many fathers, for I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

For this reason I am sending you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord; he will remind you of my ways in Christ [Jesus], just as I teach them everywhere in every church.

I say this to shame you. Can it be that there is not one among you wise enough to be able to settle a case between brothers?

I have not used any of these rights, however, nor do I write this that it be done so in my case. I would rather die. Certainly no one is going to nullify my boast.

And why? Because I do not love you? God knows I do!

Have you been thinking all along that we are defending ourselves before you? In the sight of God we are speaking in Christ, and all for building you up, beloved.

I do not say this in condemnation, for I have already said that you are in our hearts, that we may die together and live together.

It is he whom we proclaim, admonishing everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.

As you know, we treated each one of you as a father treats his children,

We urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, cheer the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient with all.

If anyone does not obey our word as expressed in this letter, take note of this person not to associate with him, that he may be put to shame.

I urge you on behalf of my child Onesimus, whose father I have become in my imprisonment,

My children, I am writing this to you so that you may not commit sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous one.

Nothing gives me greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
