He then addressed this parable to those who were convinced of their own righteousness and despised everyone else.

Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude and insult you, and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man.

Even some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers engaged him in discussion. Some asked, “What is this scavenger trying to say?” Others said, “He sounds like a promoter of foreign deities,” because he was preaching about ‘Jesus’ and ‘Resurrection.’

When they heard about resurrection of the dead, some began to scoff, but others said, “We should like to hear you on this some other time.”

While Paul was so speaking in his defense, Festus said in a loud voice, “You are mad, Paul; much learning is driving you mad.”

and I will show him what he will have to suffer for my name.”

For since in the wisdom of God the world did not come to know God through wisdom, it was the will of God through the foolishness of the proclamation to save those who have faith.

but we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,

For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. The Corinthians and Paul.

Therefore, whoever thinks he is standing secure should take care not to fall.

Now the natural person does not accept what pertains to the Spirit of God, for to him it is foolishness, and he cannot understand it, because it is judged spiritually.

I came to you in weakness and fear and much trembling,

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you considers himself wise in this age, let him become a fool so as to become wise.

I fed you milk, not solid food, because you were unable to take it. Indeed, you are still not able, even now,

You are already satisfied; you have already grown rich; you have become kings without us! Indeed, I wish that you had become kings, so that we also might become kings with you.

For someone will say, “His letters are severe and forceful, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.”

For you gladly put up with fools, since you are wise yourselves.

Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is led to sin, and I am not indignant? Paul’s Boast: His Weakness.

For we rejoice when we are weak but you are strong. What we pray for is your improvement.

So death is at work in us, but life in you.

through glory and dishonor, insult and praise. We are treated as deceivers and yet are truthful;

Therefore, whoever disregards this, disregards not a human being but God, who [also] gives his holy Spirit to you. Mutual Charity.

If you are insulted for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
