He who observesthe day,observesit for the Lord,and he who eats,doessofor the Lord,for he givesthanksto God;and he who eatsnot, for the Lordhe does not eat,and gives thanksto God.
Now thisdaywill be a memorialto you, and you shall celebrateit [as] a feastto the LORD;throughout your generationsyou are to celebrateit [as] a permanentordinance.
It is a nightto be observedfor the LORDfor having broughtthem out from the landof Egypt;thisnightis for the LORD,to be observedby allthe sonsof Israelthroughout their generations.
Mosessaid,"Eatit today,for todayis a sabbathto the LORD;todayyou will not findit in the field.
"Is it a fastlike thiswhich I choose,a dayfor a manto humblehimself?Is it for bowingone's headlike a reedAnd for spreadingout sackclothand ashesas a bed? Will you callthisa fast,even an acceptabledayto the LORD?
Everycookingpotin Jerusalemand in Judahwill be holyto the LORDof hosts;and allwho sacrificewill comeand takeof them and boilin them. And there will nolongerbe a Canaanitein the houseof the LORDof hostsin that day.
Orderingthe peopleto sit downon the grass,He tookthe fiveloavesand the twofish,and lookingup towardheaven,He blessed[the food], and breakingthe loavesHe gavethem to the disciples,and the disciples[gave them] to the crowds,
and He tookthe sevenloavesand the fish;and giving thanks,He brokethem and started givingthem to the disciples,and the disciples[gave them] to the people.
Thereforethey saidto Him, "Whatshall we do,sothat we may workthe worksof God?"
