Then Ebed-melechthe Ethiopiansaidto Jeremiah,"Nowputthese worn-outclothesand ragsunderyour armpitsunderthe ropes";and Jeremiahdidso.
"It is not this wayamongyou, but whoeverwishesto becomegreatamongyou shall be your servant,
"But whenyou are invited,goand reclineat the lastplace,sothat whenthe one who has invitedyou comes,he may sayto you, 'Friend,moveup higher;thenyou will have honorin the sightof allwho are at the tablewith you.
"ThisI commandyou, that you loveone another.
that they may allbe one;evenas You, Father,[are] in Me and I in You, that they alsomay be in Us, sothat the worldmay believethat You sentMe.
And the congregationof thosewho believedwere of oneheartand soul;and not one[of them] claimedthat anythingbelongingto him was his own,but all thingswere common propertyto them.
Renderto allwhat is duethem: taxto whomtax[is due]; customto whomcustom;fearto whomfear;honorto whomhonor.
For you were calledto freedom,brethren;only[do] not [turn] your freedominto an opportunityfor the flesh,but throughloveserveone another.
But the fruitof the Spiritis love,joy,peace,patience,kindness,goodness,faithfulness,
For in ChristJesusneithercircumcisionnoruncircumcisionmeansanything,but faithworkingthroughlove.
Do nothingfrom selfishnessorempty conceit,but with humility of mindregardone anotheras more importantthan yourselves;
since we heardof your faithin ChristJesusand the lovewhichyou havefor allthe saints;
Nowas to the love of the brethren,you havenoneedfor [anyone] to writeto you, for you yourselvesare taught by Godto loveone another;
We oughtalwaysto give thanksto Godfor you, brethren,as is [only] fitting,becauseyour faithis greatly enlarged,and the loveof eachoneof you towardone anothergrows [ever] greater;
Let love of the brethrencontinue.
Since you have in obedienceto the truthpurifiedyour soulsfor a sincerelove of the brethren,ferventlyloveone anotherfrom the heart,
Honorall people,lovethe brotherhood,fearGod,honorthe king.
You younger men,likewise,be subjectto [your] elders;and allof you, clotheyourselves with humilitytoward one another,for GODIS OPPOSEDTO THE PROUD,BUT GIVESGRACETO THE HUMBLE.
and in [your] godliness,brotherlykindness, and in [your] brotherly kindness,love.
Beloved,ifGodsolovedus, we alsooughtto loveone another.
Ifsomeonesays,"I loveGod,"and hateshis brother,he is a liar;for the one who does not lovehis brotherwhomhe has seen,cannotloveGodwhomhe has not seen.
