Thesehavethe powerto shutup the sky,sothat rainwill not fallduring the daysof their prophesying;and they havepoweroverthe watersto turnthem into blood,and to strikethe earthwith everyplague,as oftenas they desire.
Now Elijahthe Tishbite,who was of the settlersof Gilead,saidto Ahab,"As the LORD,the Godof Israellives,beforewhomI stand,surelythere shall be neitherdewnor raintheseyears,exceptby my word."
"But I sayto you in truth,there were manywidowsin Israelin the daysof Elijah,whenthe skywas shutup for threeyearsand sixmonths,whena greatfaminecameoverallthe land;
"And I will grant[authority] to my twowitnesses,and they will prophesyfor twelvehundredand sixtydays,clothedin sackcloth."
The second[angel] pouredout his bowlinto the sea,and it becamebloodlike[that] of a dead man;and everylivingthingin the seadied.
Thenthe third[angel] pouredout his bowlinto the riversand the springsof waters;and they becameblood.
The secondangelsounded,and [something] likea greatmountainburningwith firewas throwninto the sea;and a thirdof the seabecameblood,
"Woeto us! Whoshall deliverus from the handof thesemightygods?Theseare the godswho smotethe Egyptianswith all[kinds of] plaguesin the wilderness.
