But ifyou do not driveout the inhabitantsof the landfrom beforeyou, then it shall comeabout that those whomyou letremainof them [will become] as pricksin your eyesand as thornsin your sides,and they will troubleyou in the landin whichyou live.
"They shall not livein your land,becausethey will make you sinagainst Me; for [if] you servetheir gods,it will surelybe a snareto you."
"And there will be nomorefor the houseof Israela pricklingbrieror a painfulthornfrom anyroundaboutthem who scornedthem; then they will knowthat I am the LordGOD."
And as I planto doto them, so I will doto you.'"
Because of the surpassing greatnessof the revelations,for this reason,to keepme from exaltingmyself, there was givenme a thornin the flesh,a messengerof Satanto tormentme-- to keepme from exaltingmyself!
"You shall consumeallthe peopleswhomthe LORDyour Godwill deliverto you; your eyeshall not pitythem, norshall you servetheir gods,for that [would be] a snareto you.
"For they will turnyour sonsawayfrom followingMe to serveothergods;then the angerof the LORDwill be kindledagainst you and He will quicklydestroyyou.
sothat you will not associatewith thesenations,thesewhich remainamongyou, or mentionthe nameof their gods,or make [anyone] swear[by them], or servethem, or bowdownto them.
"Therefore I alsosaid,I will not drivethem out beforeyou; but they will become[as thorns] in your sidesand their godswill be a snareto you.'"
