Of Kohath[was] the familyof the Amramitesand the familyof the Izharitesand the familyof the Hebronitesand the familyof the Uzzielites;thesewere the familiesof the Kohathites.
The sonsof Kohathwere four:Amram,Izhar,Hebronand Uzziel.
As for the Amramites,the Izharites,the Hebronitesand the Uzzielites,
As for the Hebronites,Hashabiahand his relatives,1700capablemen,had charge of the affairsof Israelwestof the Jordan,for allthe workof the LORDand the serviceof the king.
He saidto me, "Thisis the chamberwhichfacestowardthe south,[intended] for the priestswho keepchargeof the temple;
and the sonsof Kohathby their families:Amramand Izhar,Hebronand Uzziel;
and the hangingsof the court,and the screenfor the doorwayof the courtwhichis aroundthe tabernacleand the altar,and its cords,according to allthe serviceconcerning them.
In the numberingof everymalefrom a montholdand upward,[there were] 8,600,performingthe dutiesof the sanctuary.

The restof the sonsof Kohathreceived tencitiesby lotfrom the familiesof the tribeof Ephraimand from the tribeof Danand from the half-tribeof Manasseh.
