Now there was a greatoutcryof the peopleand of their wivesagainsttheir Jewishbrothers.
So neitherI, my brothers,my servants,northe menof the guardwhofollowedme, noneof us removedour clothes,each[took] his weapon[even to] the water.
So that they caused the cryof the poorto cometo Him, And that He might hearthe cryof the afflicted--
The LORDsaid,"I have surelyseenthe afflictionof My peoplewhoare in Egypt,and have givenheedto their crybecauseof their taskmasters,for I am awareof their sufferings.
For the vineyardof the LORDof hostsis the houseof IsraelAnd the menof JudahHis delightfulplant.Thus He lookedfor justice,but behold,bloodshed;For righteousness,but behold,a cryof distress.
The wordwhichcameto Jeremiahfrom the LORDafterKingZedekiahhad madea covenantwith allthe peoplewhowere in Jerusalemto proclaimreleaseto them:
Thussaysthe LordGOD,"Enough,you princesof Israel;putawayviolenceand destruction,and practicejusticeand righteousness.Stopyour expropriationsfrom My people,"declaresthe LordGOD.
"Thisis anotherthingyou do:you coverthe altarof the LORDwith tears,with weepingand with groaning,becauseHe nolongerregardsthe offeringor accepts[it with] favorfrom your hand.
now,will not Godbring aboutjusticefor His electwho cryto Him dayand night,and will He delay longoverthem?
"On the followingdayhe appearedto them as they were fighting together,and he tried to reconcilethem in peace,saying,'Men,you are brethren,whydo you injureone another?'
Behold,the payof the laborerswho mowedyour fields,[and] which has been withheldby you, criesout [against you]; and the outcryof thosewho did the harvestinghas reachedthe earsof the Lordof Sabaoth.
